The Rings Trail in Mojave National Preserve (Day 228)
My name is Chris Novak and I am on a quest to hike 1000 hikes in 1000 days straight.

I was inspired to do this by another blogger on this site named Jeremy Jacobus. After reading his blog I thought this sounded like a really fun challenge and as I already was hiking several times a week I decided to challenge myself to complete this feat as well.

I have changed my rules a bit from his but am basically using the same guidelines:

1. Hike at least 1 mile per day everyday for 1000 days straight
2. When possible, this must be on a new trail with minimal repeats
3. Due to work conflicts, I have allowed myself repeat trails only on days when work does not allow for a new hike

My goal this year is to hike Mt. Whitney in the summer, so I will be doing as many conditioning hikes as possible and getting as much elevation gain as I can.

I started this journey over 6 months ago and was simply uploading pictures to my facebook page, but the idea of putting them in a blog is sounding more interesting lately. In order for this to work, I feel I need to have all of my hikes published here.  With that said, I will be posting all of my old hikes from Day 1 until I catch up to my current number. Until that point this will be a work in progress and may take several weeks to get caught up on.

I look forward to any feedback you may have on the site design or on suggestions for future hikes. Wish me luck in updating over 200 hikes in the next few weeks. :)

  1. Jeremy Jacobus here, 1000 Hikes in 1000 Days www.calihike.blogspot.com

I left you a comment on your Day 1 Hike - Fossil Trail. I thought it was pretty cool that there are shell fossils at 1000 feet in elevation. It really gets your thinking about what this earth used to be like and what it will become.

    Good Luck on your adventure!!
